November 2005

Well life goes on in our little family. Each child is developing new tricks almost everyday. Juliette surprised everyone this morning by waking up early doing all her morning chores by herself and even making her own lunch. The sandwich did look tasty even if it had a bit too much mayonnaise. Right now we're trying to establish a routine where Juliette does homework everyday. She's currently spelling her name along with Sophie and Nicholas, learning new Chinese characters for Saturday Chinese School and practicing her French vocabulary provided by her school. She remains the kind and nurturing big sister that still cries her eyes out when Sophie pulls her hair.
Nicholas is cute and full of energy. Being so cute, I’ve been told that he receives stuff from strangers pretty often candies, small toys etc… I guess he’s picked up on how every time he receives a small gift his mom tells him “Aren’t you lucky”. So upon receiving the gift, he says “I’m a lucky boy eh mommy?”
Nicholas isn’t in school yet so he gets to spend a lot of time with mommy and Sophie. What never fails to amaze me is what he'll do for Sophie. He has a trick where he puts his head near her fists and lets her pull with all her baby strength. Instead of crying like his sister he just laughs, pulls his head out and puts it right back in. One of his favorite people right now is his aunt’s boyfriend E. E reminds me a lot of myself before kids. E and the aunt often take Nicholas and/or Juliette out to movies, a Renegades football game and even sushi. This week I went with them to see the movie Chicken Little. It’s as good as Jimmy Neutron but not as good as Shrek I or II.
Sophie is growing in size and alertness everyday. She can sit up for long periods of time without falling over and has started to eat cereals, vegetables and fruits. We can tickle her to make her laugh and put her in her own crib were she puts herself to sleep and sleeps through the night (most of the time). Even though she seems to enjoy her time with the kids and me, nothing gets her going like when she sees mommy after a brief separation. The smiles and kicks of excitement at the sight of her primary provider of love, body heat and more importantly breast milk brings a smile to my face every time.
All three kids seem to tolerate each other pretty well. I keep waiting for one of them to get the memo that says they're supposed to fight every chance they get, but it hasn’t happened yet.
